More information: Treated as Aspergillus saitoi var. kagoshimaensis until Dec. 2017, but related to A. costaricaensis CBS 115574 (NR_103604) based on the ITS sequence; The ITS sequence was identical with those of strains JCM 22296, JCM 22299 and JCM 22323.
