Mix components and autoclave under a N₂ atmosphere. After cooling, replace the gas phase with a N₂-CO₂ (4:1, v/v) gas mixture and add the following solutions from sterile anaerobic stocks (autoclaved or *filter-sterilized):

8% NaHCO₃ solution*	`30.0`	ml
Vitamin solution (see Medium No. 403)*	`1.0`	ml
Thiamine solution (see Medium No. 403)*	`1.0`	ml
Vitamin B₁₂ solution (see Medium No. 403)*	`1.0`	ml
1 M Sodium acetate solution	`10.0`	ml
1 M Sodium fumarate solution	`20.0`	ml

Distribute the medium into sterile culture vessels (e.g., 20 ml of the medium in 50 ml serum bottles) under a N₂-CO₂ (4:1, v/v) gas mixture and seal with sterile butyl rubber stoppers. Adjust pH to 7.0, if necessary. Prior to use, add per liter the following solution from an anaerobic stock (autoclaved):

5% L-Cysteine·HCl·H₂O solution 7.0 ml
