| Sodium acetate·3H2O | 0.83 | g |
| Yeast extract | 2.0 | g |
| Trypticase peptone (BD-BBL) | 2.0 | g |
| Maltose | 2.0 | g |
| PIPES | 3.3 | g |
| Sulfur (powder) | 5.0 | g |
| Resazurin | 1.0 | mg |
| Distilled water | 1.0 | L |
Mix components except sulfur, adjust pH to 6.0 and autoclave under a N2 atmosphere. After cooling, add per liter the following solutions (autoclaved and stored anaerobically):

| 7% K2HPO4solution | 4.3 | ml |
Steam sulfur for 3 hr on each of 3 successive days. Distribute the medium into culture vessels containing sulfur under a N2 atmosphere, and seal with butyl rubber stoppers. Then, add the following solution (autoclaved and stored under a N2 atmosphere) to the medium:
