Solution A:

(NH₄)₂SO₄	`0.9`	g
NaCl	`0.9`	g
MgSO₄·7H₂O	`0.9`	g
CaCl₂·2H₂O	`0.9`	g
Cellobiose	`2.5`	g
Rumen fluid, clarified (see Medium No. 266)	`200.0`	ml
Distilled water	`600.0`	ml

Solution B:

KH₂PO₄	`0.45`	g
K₂HPO₄	`0.45`	g
Distilled water	`100.0`	ml

Solution C:

NaHCO₃	`3.5`	g
Distilled water	`100.0`	ml

Autoclave Solutions A and B separately and filter-sterilize Solution C. Combine the three solutions, distribute into culture vessels under a stream of N₂-CO₂ (80:20, v/v) and seal with butyl rubber stoppers. Prior to inoculation, reduce the medium with 0.05% L-cysteine·HCl·H₂O (autoclaved as a 5% solution under a N₂ atmosphere).
