NaHCO₃	`30.6`	g
NaCl	`7.5`	g
K₂HPO₄	`1.0`	g
Yeast extract	`0.2`	g

Add components to distilled water and bring volume to 1.0 L. Adjust pH to 9.5-9.6, if necessary. Autoclave. After cooling, add the following solutions (autoclaved or *filter-sterilized):

1 M MgSO₄ solution	`1.0`	ml
1 M NH₄Cl solution	`4.0`	ml
Trace element solution (see Medium No. 1079)	`1.0`	ml
Se/W solution* (see Medium No. 852)	`1.0`	ml
Trace vitamins* (see Medium No. 197)	`1.0`	ml
5% Sodium alginate gel solution	`20.0`	ml
