| NB Mineral elixir solution (see below) | 10.0 | ml |
| Distilled water | 900.0 | ml |
Mix components and autoclave under a N2 atmosphere. After cooling, replace the gas phase with a N2-CO2 (4:1, v/v) gas mixture, and add the following solutions from sterile anaerobic stocks (autoclaved or *filter-sterilized).

| 1 M Sodium acetate solution | 15.0 | ml |

Check final pH to be around 7.0.

Dissolve nitrilotriacetic acid and adjust pH to 8.0-8.5 with NaOH. Then proceed to add minerals.
